Perfectly Imperfect

Adam and I just got home from our trip to New York City! I have had an obsession with New York ever since I started watching Sex and the City years ago. I have dreamed of going there but never thought I would get the opportunity. When Adam told me he was going there for training I was so excited. This was definitely a trip I will never forget. There is something almost magical about seeing New York during Christmas time.

Day 1:

I had to be at the airport EARLY in the morning on Wednesday morning. I was a nervous wreck. I had looked forward to this trip for a few months, but I had some concerns about leaving. I had never left Ella for more than two days so that was my biggest worry. I thought I might get home sick and miss her like crazy. I had also never flown by myself so I was scared to death. I tend to get sick on airplanes. My mom brought over bonene and sea bands for me, and these two things worked like a charm. Flying actually was not bad either. On the first flight no one was sitting next to me so I had plenty of room. The second flight went fast, because the man sitting next to me was from New York so he was telling me all about the city. He was even really nice to me when I thought I might get sick. We found that a lot of New Yorkers were actually really nice. My plane landed early in the afternoon. I met up with Brandi (a wife of one of the guy's Adam works with in Terre Haute), and we made our way to the hotel. Brandi and I had only met once before, but we keep up with each other on facebook and through our blogs. We got along very well and had a lot to talk about. I was so thankful to have her on this trip. It was fun to have someone to do stuff with, and I think I would have been lost in the city without her. I think we did great for not knowing the subway system or our way around.

Adam left training for a little bit to let me into the hotel. Our hotel was amazing. It was probably one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed at.

They changed this rug morning, noon, and night. This hotel paid attention to every single detail.

After we unpacked we walked back with Adam and Bobby to their training center, and then headed over to the Staten Island Ferry. We got some great views of the Statue of Liberty. I waited almost 30 years to see it, and it was well worth the wait!!

After that we didn't have much time before meeting Adam and Bobby so we walked around Battery Park for little bit and grabbed a couple of pretzels since we had not eaten all day!

That night we ended up eating dinner at a restaurant in Brooklyn at an Italian restaurant. It was an exhausting day so after dinner we headed back to the hotel to hit the sack!

Day 2:

Brandi and I met up bright and early to get a jump start on our day. We had a few things on our list that we wanted to do and ended up doing those things and more. We also walked what seemed like 20 miles that day. I would love to know how much we walked, because by the end of the day my feet were killing me! We started out at Times Square. I have seen many pictures of this, but you have to see it in person to get the full affect. It's amazing! My phone fell out of my pocket in Times Square without me knowing. Luckily, some guy got my attention and gave it back to me. I'm surprised someone didn't just run off with it.

After Times Square we headed over to Rockefeller Center. On the way there we stumbled upon Radio City Music Hall. You should have seen the line to buy tickets for the Rocketts. It was forever long!

We also stopped at Top of the Rock. We bought the sunrise/sunset ticket so we could come back later with the husbands.

Next up, Rockefeller Center! I consider myself so lucky to have been in New York on the day of the Christmas tree lighting. We waited until the next day to see it, because we heard it was crazy.

I didn't get any pictures of the ice skating rink, because they were working on it when we were there. Shoot!

On our way to Central Park. This is around the area where a bird pooped on my head:) We ate lunch around this time at whole foods. It was already 2:00pm by this time. Food was definitely not a priority on this trip.

Entertainment in Central Park. These guys were asking for $5.00 for their little performance. It was interesting to say the least.

Sprinkles Cupcakes!! It was probably the best cupcake I have ever eaten. The icing melted in your mouth. YUM!

I had the red velvet cupcake. I got Adam the black and white cupcake for later.

After Sprinkles we made our way over to Dylan's Candy Bar. On the way there we saw something out of the ordinary. There were cops with machine guns standing outside of a building. There were also cops with K-9's. It was really cool to see. The President was in NYC that day, and we wondered if maybe this was for him. I don't know why I didn't take any pictures of these cops. I think I was kind of scared of them!

After Dylan's we were going to go back to Times Square to meet the guys, but Brandi discovered we were really close to Grand Central Terminal. This was something else I wanted to see, but I didn't think we would have enough time.

We were EXHAUSTED with sore feet by this point so Brandi suggested we take the subway to Times Square. We had this great app on our phone called "NYC subway." You put in what station you were at, and it told you the route you need to take. I don't think we would have gotten around as well without it.

Once we made it back to Times Square we sat and waited for Adam and Bobby. It was nice to rest for a little bit before we met them to go back to Top of the Rock. It was so weird sitting in Times Square waiting for them to get out of training. It was almost surreal. I usually sit at home and wait for Adam to get off work. Once we met them we headed back to Rockefeller Center for our night time view of the city. On the way I spotted the Naked Cowboy!! I was so excited. Earlier in the day while we were in Times Square I told Brandi I'd love to see him. He was an interesting character. I'm not sure what kind of person would stand outside in their underwear in 40 degree weather, but at least it was entertaining:)

Nighttime views at Top of the Rock. It was amazing.

We went to see the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center after we left top of the rock! It was PACKED!!

We were starving after this so we headed to dinner. The guys wanted to go to "Sofrito," a Spanish restaurant their instructor told them about. Brandi and I were about to keel over by this point, but we survived the long trek to the restaurant. It was such a cool atmosphere. I definitely felt like I was in NYC at this place. The food was pretty good, and we got huge portions. After dinner we were exhausted. This was the one time we took a taxi besides to and from the airport.

Day 3:

We started out day at the 9/11 memorial.

After the memorial Brandi and I went to Soho to do a little shopping. This was my favorite neighborhood. There were some great stores in Soho including Dash!! If you watch any of the Kardashian shows on E! you will know what I'm talking about.

This guy came out of dash and said he played for the NBA. A lot of girls were getting their picture taken with him. Does he look familiar to you? I asked the security guard who he was, and he said he did not play for the NBA.

We had to wait in line at Dash just to get in the store. There were two security guards in there once you got in. I expected a bigger store. Brandi and I both bought some perfume!

Adam and Bobby got out of training early on Friday so we headed to Central Park and "The Shake Shack" for lunch.

We went to the Museum of Natural History after our small jaunt through Central Park. This was Adam's pick, and we all ended up being bored out of our minds!

Once we left the museum it was time for our Nighttime lights bus tour. This was one of my favorite parts of the trip. We had a great tour guide, and it was a quick way to see lots of things!
