I rented a jeep for one full day so we could ride trails. Unfortunately, there way way too much snow to take a jeep out so we ended up renting an open air ATV for a couple of hours. Although we were dressed warm, I had no clue the elevation we would be at riding this thing. It was really COLD (my toes were frozen), and there was A LOT of snow. Typically when we take out an ATV on vacation the weather is super nice. This was a different experience.

Estes Park, Colorado Spring Break
Spring Break 2021
After last years fiasco of rescheduling our spring break trip to Florida (thanks COVID), we were so excited to go on a proper spring break trip this year. I picked Estes Park, CO after driving through it on our way home from Colorado last summer. Estes Park is minutes outside of Rock Mountain National Park. It's the cutest mountain town with a wonderful downtown. I found a house on a stream which was icing on the cake.
We headed out bright and early for our 15 hour trek to Colorado. I thought we were nuts, but we planned to drive this straight through. That was our longest drive to date, and I'm not sure I would want to drive any longer than that. The trip went smoothly with no issues. We packed lots of toys, snacks, and drinks which helped. We also were able to watch movies thanks to our new SUV.
We were exhausted from the drive. We ate dinner and went to bed. We all slept in the clothes from that day. We were too exhausted to even change clothes.
We woke up to this view, and it was seriously gorgeous. It was cold, but we were still able to enjoy the outdoors.
On Monday, I scheduled to have our pictures taken in the national park at sunset. It was almost a disaster. It was pouring snow, but we went ahead with it. It snowed for about fifteen minutes, and then the sun came out. I am not sure I will have pictures taken again on a trip anytime soon, but I am so glad we did it. Our photographer got some awesome shots.
Before our pictures, we saw deer, a coyote, and elk. I love seeing wildlife in the park.
