Spring Break- Destin 2019

We went to one of our favorite vacation spots in Destin, FL for spring break. It was a much-needed break for all of us. It was a great week with lots of good weather, but we, unfortunately, ended the week with me getting sick with the flu. I'm glad we were able to do all the things we had planned before that hit.

We left bright and early on Saturday morning to try to get ahead of all the spring break traffic which ended up not being as bad as last year. Adam made great time and got us there early enough to still enjoy the beach.

Paige loves the sand and water so she was thrilled to see it again. We (as in Paige and I) spent more time out on the beach that week than we ever had in the past.

She seriously loves life!

Once we had dinner Ella went out. She isn't a beach lover unfortunately. She enjoys looking at it but isn't a fan of the sun or sand.

Ella is getting SO tall. I have many pictures of her like this, and it's easy to see just how big she is getting.

After a good nights sleep Paige was ready to hit the beach again. We didn't have plans for this day, because we were getting our beach pictures taken later.

We were out on the beach bright and early to play. The mornings were cold so we were not out long.

This is the only time Adam and Ella were out at the beach that week. Two peas in a pod!

I rented Paige and I chairs for the week which ended up being so nice. I didn't get to sit much, but it was nice to have somewhere to put all of our stuff.

Paige loved the sand so much she rolled around in it. Every night you could hear sand fall on the floor when she took a bath. She could have stayed out there for hours.

That afternoon I had DestinMobileMakeupBox come and do our hair and makeup for our beach pictures. I wish I could do that everytime we have pictures taken. It was so fun and so nice having someone else do all of that. Paige would not leave her hair up in a braid, but luckily Ella went along with it. Our pictures that night went really well. I will share those in the next post.

Everyone slept in the next morning. Paige and Ella both are great sleepers on vacation. Ella has gotten too big for her britches and enjoys a room to herself when we go on trips. That means Adam is usually stuck on a pullout couch or anywhere he can find a comfortable place to sleep.

We see these dolphins every year..

And I take this picture of her every year...

I was only able to catch one show this time around. Paige was not able to make it through the dolphin show. She was hungry and ready to go.

After leaving the aquarium we went to lunch at The Back Porch. This is one of our favorite restaurants in Destin, but I didn't think it was as good as it has been in the past. We still enjoyed our lunch though.

We headed for the beach that afternoon since the weather was PERFECT!

The following morning Paige and I were back out bright and early. The mornings were so cold. I don't know how she even got in the water.

We had a dolphin cruise planned so we ate lunch at Harbor Walk Village, and then walked right on the boat for our cruise.

We have been on a dolphin cruise on a previous trip, and it didn't go so well for me. This time around I was prepared with bonene and sea bands and did just fine thankfully.

Ella enjoyed feeding the birds. Paige was scared to death to feed them, and I can't say I blame her. There were a ton of birds flying around everywhere.

We were able to see many dolphins that day. I stayed in the back of the boat which isn't the best viewing spot. Adam and Ella were in the front watching them jump the waves.

We were even able to see a baby dolphin that was probably only 2-3 days old.

The following morning was CHILLY so Paige and I went to HomeGoods, and then we "rested" until it was nice enough to go out to the beach.

Unbeknownst to us, this was our last beach day. We were out for a good 2-3 hours, and I'm glad we were. While I was sitting out in the sun I knew I wasn't feeling the best, but I figured I was just getting too much sun.

Paige had so much fun this afternoon playing in the sand, running in and out of the water, and watching other kids. She is a beach goer through and through.

She could have sat here for hours playing in the sand.

That night we drove the golf cart over to Baytown Wharf. We did a little shopping and had dinner. They have a store with the best beanie boos, and Paige had to ride the carousel.

Off to the carousel...

One last picture before I was hit with the flu...

The next morning I woke up at 4am SO sick. All I kept thinking was I needed to take something (my face was on fire), but I couldn't bring myself to get up. We made the decision to pack up and head home. Packing while feverish and nauseous is not fun. Adam did most of the packing thankfully. It took us two hours to round everything up and get moving. I typically despise the drive home, but that drive with the flu is pure misery. I was never so glad to be home!

Besides the end of the trip, we had a great time! It was a nice little break from school, work, and home life in general. I'm already looking forward to our next adventure in May!!

January Fun

January always seems like the never-ending month. After all the Christmas hype January always seems so blah to me. We have had a couple of small snow storms that have led to some fun though.

The first snow brought a couple of inches that only lasted about half the day due to rising temps so we took advantage of it while we could.

We started out at home but ended up on the golf course which makes for some good sledding.

Poor Paige flew down the hill like this and went right under a bush. Yikes!

Ella and Paige both loved being pulled around by the golf cart.

A couple of weeks later (on Adam's birthday) we were supposed to have a HUGE snow but of course, we only got two inches at the most. It was more ice than anything. Not only did we get a little snow, but it brought some very cold air. We waited until the afternoon to get out in it, but it was so cold I could barely feel my nose by the time we were done.

The slidewalks were so slick we were able to sled right down the sidewalk.

Paige loved running down the hill and face planting right into the snow!

Trying out the sled again after sledding into the bush.

The following day, Ella didn't have school so my parents brought Autumn over and we went sledding again. Paige was brave enough to conquer some bigger hills with Mammy and Peep.

Ella and Autumn are old pros in the snow.

I think Ella needs a snowboard!

There is something about my mom sledding down a hill that is absolutely hilarious. I was laughing so hard I could barely stand and so was my mom. I am still mad at myself for not getting video.

Although the snow was fun, I'm ready to say farewell to winter. Only 5-6 more weeks until some warmer weather hopefully! I'm definitely ready!!
