Georgia 🍑 Spring Break

We just got back (early) from our spring break trip to the North Georgia mountains. We were SO ready for a "break".  It's so nice to take it slow for a bit and not worry about anything related to school. I was so excited not to have to wake up to an alarm for a whole week.

Paige was raring to go and was up and ready at 5:30am. She is definitely a morning person. She talked my ear off and helped me load the car. She is pretty much me made over when it comes to trips. She can not contain her excitement.

We only had about a five and half hour drive that day which was not too bad. The worst part was the last 20 minutes as we drove up the windiest road ever. I was never so glad to get off those winding roads.

We stayed at the nicest rental we have ever stayed at. It was a newer house and very modern. I really liked it. It had everything you could possibly want in a vacation rental and the waterfall/stream out back was the icing on the cake.

The prettiest view we have had as well. You could hear the waterfall even with the windows closed.

We had some special visitors on this trip. Mammy and Peep decided to join us for a few days which was a lot of fun. It was going to be a surprise, but we ended up passing them on the highway on our way to Nashville. What are the odds of that happening?

Adam had a lot of fun crossing over the stream on this log. That's a little too dangerous for me, but he and Ella did it multiple times.

After dinner Paige had try out the hot tub. It was a great night for it too so I got in with her.  Maybe one day she will figure out that hot tubs are for relaxing not bouncing around like a maniac. ;)

After the hot tub she then requested a fire in the fire pit. She must fit in all the things on the first day we are there. My dad got a nice fire going, and then she decided she was tired and it was time for bed.

The fire was mesmerizing...

Ella and Mammy joined us after a game of pool. Ella loves to play pool and has gotten really good at it over the years.

The next day we had a relaxing morning, and then got cleaned up so we could go visit Blue Ridge.
It was a beautiful day!

We loved having Mammy and Peep along with us. They are the life of the party!!

Blue Ridge has the cutest downtown with nice shops and restaurants. We ate lunch at a restaurant called "Harvest", and I thought the food was really good. I may have gotten a tiny bit hangry trying to find a place to eat. Lol! It's never a good idea to skip breakfast. I won't be doing that again.

Paige picked out a cowgirl hat in a shop and was proudly wearing it.

She looked super cute, and it matched her outfit. I love her style!

After lunch we headed back to relax. Paige and I got in the hot tub again, and we took a walk down to the bridge and back. It was a very pretty, clean neighborhood. After Paige went to bed that night we played a game my parents brought which was a lot of fun. Ella enjoyed playing games and the pool table.

I wish we lived by this stream.

The following day we had planned to go to an Amish store my mom wanted to go to, but unfortunately it was closed. We went to an orchard I had heard about instead. They had anything  and everything apple you could think of. We bought cinnamon rolls and apple pies at he bakery, and had lunch at the deli there. It was a good lunch and a nice time.

Paige was pretty tired once we got back. I think she was probably feeling sick but will never admit it. She goes and goes and goes. She wanted to try fishing but was just done for the day.

My mom and Ella play Roblox together, and they were both laughing so hard over a game.

These pictures pretty much sum up their relationship!

After dinner we finally had some marshmallows to roast so Adam got a fire going, and we roasted marshmallows. I loved this fire pit. It was so convenient and had a beautiful view.

Tuesday morning Paige woke up with a fever and was just overall crummy. After my parents headed out that morning, we decided to just pack up and leave. Paige was asking to go home since she didn't feel good. It's so much easier to manage illness at home as well. We have all the medicines we need. You also never know how much worse things will get so if she needed to be seen at least we would be home. You win some, you lose some. That's just how it goes when you have kids.

By that night Paige was feeling rough. She fell asleep sitting up since she was so wore out. Ella started feeling bad as well and had a fever the following morning. It was such a good thing we came home early! Although it stinks they got sick, we did have fun while we were there. Hopefully we have better luck with our next trip and everyone stays well!

February happenings 2022

We kicked off February with an ice/snow storm that practically closed down the entire city. Everyone was prepared for the worst, but it ended up not being as bad as predicted. Luckily, we got more sleep than ice so that was helpful. We only lost power for an hour. You would have though the world was ending not having wifi, but we somehow survived.

Paige had to go out and play in the Ice and try to sled in the front yard. It was super slick which was great for sledding.

I had a nice build up of ice in my hair by the time we went in.

The following day we bundled up and went sledding over at the golf course. I think everyone in Evansville was over there. We found a smaller hill which no one else was using. It was very slick which was great for sledding.

Getting ready to race down the hill....

Ella is really good at this snow scooter. I would love to take her skiing one day. She has great balance.

Paige came down one day with this get up on and said, "Look mom, I look like a lady who drinks wine."

Adam and I were lucky enough to go to the Gaylord for our 16th anniversary this year. We hadn't been in a few years so it was a treat. We ate at Chuy's and pretty much sat and did nothing. We always get a room with a balcony and enjoy the sound of the waterfalls.

I can't believe it has been 16 years since the day we got married. We have had a lot of ups and downs over the years, but I am so glad that we have experienced them together. Thinking back, I
had no idea what marriage truly was on the actual day we got married. I feel like Adam and I have practically grown up together over the years. Neither of us are perfect, but I feel like we are both accepting of each others downfalls.  We have learned so much about life and each other. There is no doubt I would not want to do life with anyone else though. I feel lucky to have him.

School celebrated "Twos day" with ties, tutus, and tube socks. Paige wore a tutu to celebrate 2.22.22.

We had a few nice days so we took advantage of the outside time while we could. Charlotte got to go on a golf cart ride with us. Paige and Charlotte have a very tumultuous relationship. Some days she loves her and plays with her, and some days she throws her across the room or shoves her in a cabinet. Lol!

We also went over to the golf course to ride bikes and roller blade. Ella hasn't been able to roller blade much since receiving these for Christmas so we try to take advantage of the nice days.
